11th Annual Orange County Mental Health Conference

James Schuster, MD, MBA, Chief Medical Officer (December 1, 2011)

James Schuster, MD, MBA, Chief Medical Officer, Community Care, presented at the 11th Annual Orange County Mental Health Conference. Dr. Schuster's presentation focused on Community Care's contributions to the Pennsylvania HealthChoices Behavioral Health Program, the role of the BHO in New York, and how Community Care will meet the needs of the New York Medicaid Redesign Team.

The conference included a special recognition and Lifetime Achievement Award for Chris Ashman, Commissioner of the Orange County Department of Mental Health, for his many years of service and to honor his driving force in shaping service delivery for individuals with mental illness in Orange County. Keynote speaker Michael F. Hogan, PhD, Commissioner, NYS Office of Mental Health spoke about the transformation of the NYS mental health system in light of health care and Medicaid reform and the integration of physical and mental healthcare. Harvey Rosenthal, Executive Director of the New York Association of Psychiatric Rehabilitation Services, also presented. Additionally the conference featured a panel presentation on new health care models and workshops on community based mental health recovery services.

The conference was held on Thursday, December 1, 2011, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Anthony's Pier 9 in New Windsor, NY.
