Product OfferingsHealthChoicesThe Commonwealth of Pennsylvania’s mandatory Medicaid managed care program, called HealthChoices, is the largest Medicaid Program administered by the Department of Public Welfare (DPW). The DPW’s Office of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services (OMHSAS) oversees the Behavioral Health Program that provides mental health and substance abuse treatment services. The purpose of the HealthChoices program, an integrated and coordinated health care delivery system, is to provide medical, psychiatric, and substance abuse services to Medical Assistance recipients. The HealthChoices, capitated mandatory managed care program, is currently being phased in across the Commonwealth. UPMC for LifeUPMC for Life is a Medicare program, that is provided by the UPMC Health Plan. UPMC for Life is designed for people who are 65 or more years of age and offers comprehensive benefits and easy to access resources to help members keep informed on health matters and enjoy the best possible quality of health and life. UPMC Health Plan understands the unique needs of Medicare beneficiaries in Western Pennsylvania and offers a variety of products and services that fit the needs of Medicare beneficiaries — from no-cost plans to prescription drug benefits to personalized customer care. UPMC for KidsUPMC for Kids is made available through a contract with the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP) of Pennsylvania. This is a state and federally funded program that provides health insurance for eligible uninsured children. Many families worry that their children do not have health insurance. CHIP may be the answer. This program provides free or low cost health insurance to children who qualify. Based on family size and income, children up to the age of 19 may be eligible. Many services are covered to help keep children well and if they get sick or injured. These include preventive visits to the doctor, emergency room care, hospital admissions, prescriptions, dental and vision services. UPMC Commercial PlansUPMC Health Plan commercial health benefit products are available only as group-sponsored plans. Individuals join UPMC commercial plans through their employer. |
