Community Care Earns Health Utilization Management Accreditation from URAC

November 19, 2014

Community Care Behavioral Health Organization (Community Care) received full Health Utilization Management Accreditation from URAC, an independent, nonprofit health care accrediting organization dedicated to promoting health care quality through accreditation, education, and measurement.

The URAC accreditation process demonstrates a commitment to quality services and serves as a framework to improve business processes through benchmarking organizations against nationally recognized standards.

"It's an honor to achieve URAC accreditation," stated Community Care President and CEO James Gavin. "This recognition further validates our dedication to quality behavioral health services and integrated systems focused on whole health recovery and resiliency."

URAC's Health Utilization Management Accreditation ensures that all types of organizations conducting utilization review follow a process that is clinically sound and respects patients' and providers' rights while giving payers reasonable guidelines to follow. URAC's standards address the use of evidence-based guidelines, outline specific reviewer requirements for each level of review, and require a policy preventing financial incentives to doctors and other providers based on consumers' use of health services; thus, the standards meet the demands of a changing health care system. URAC's accreditation ensures the adequacy of health utilization management programs through evaluation against broadly recognized standards and measures.

"By applying for and receiving URAC accreditation, Community Care has demonstrated a commitment to quality healthcare," said URAC President and CEO Kylanne Green. "Quality healthcare is crucial to our nation's welfare and it is important to have organizations that are willing to measure themselves against national standards and undergo rigorous evaluation by an independent accrediting body."
